Hawks lose close match at home

Box Score The University of Hartford men's soccer team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon, 2-1, Saturday at Al-Marzook Field. 
 
In only the third minute of play, senior Alex Quinones scored on a penalty kick to give Hartford its first lead of the season. 
 
The Fightin' Scots took advantage of a pair of Hartford miscues to gain the lead late in the first half. First a turnover in the defensive third, led to a goal in the 37th minute. The eventual game-winning goal, which came after a mishandled free kick, was tallied a minute later. 
 
Hartford had a chance to find the equalizer in the waning moments of the game as senior Trey Sadler had his free kick in the 89th minute clang off the post.

  • Six yellow cards were handed out in the contest with both Gordon and Hartford given three yellow cards.
  • Sadler and Quinones both tallied two shots on goal. Hawks finished with seven total shots while having three on goal.
