Student-Athletes Combine for 3.32 Fall GPA

The University of Hartford Department of Athletics witnessed its student-athletes display exceptional academic prowess this Fall. The Hawks continued their success in the classroom, combining for a 3.39 grade-point average (GPA) during the Spring 2023 semester. 
 
It marks the 36th consecutive semester that Hartford's student-athletes have posted at least a 3.0 departmental GPA. In addition, 16 of the 17 programs combined to post team GPAs over 3.0.
 
"The University of Hartford Athletics Department is extremely proud of the tenacious start in our student athlete's academic success in the 2023-24 academic year," said Associate Athletic Director Denise Marchese. "Their commitment to prioritize balancing elite academic caliber and dedication to their sport is both reflected and exceptional."
 
Hartford saw 69 percent of its Hawks earn a GPA of 3.0 or better this past Fall. In addition, 47.2 percent achieved at least a 3.5 GPA, while 52 Hawks posted a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Setting the pace for the Hawks was the women's volleyball team, which combined for a 3.64 GPA. A whopping 94 percent of the squad's roster combined for a GPA of at least 3.0, with 13 of its 16 members posting at least a 3.5 GPA.
 
Seeing 82 percent of its team earn a GPA of 3.0 – with seven of those student-athletes turning in GPAs of 3.5 or higher and four with perfect 4.0 GPAs – the men's golf team posted the highest men's team GPA in the department at 3.61.
 
The women's soccer and women's lacrosse teams also had an outstanding Fall semester, ranking second and third in the department with a 3.59 and 3.48 GPA, respectively.
 
On the men's side, baseball combined for a 3.39 GPA followed by men's lacrosse with a 3.31 GPA.
