WENHAM, Mass. - The University of Hartford women's volleyball team dropped three straight sets on Wednesday night to Gordon College (25-10, 25-17, 25-22) in their third conference match of the season.
Rapid Recap:
- The Hawks and Fighting Scots were battling for points early on in the first set. Sophomore Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) slammed three kills for the Hawks, 4-3 Fighting Scots. The Fighting Scots began to pull away with a four point straight run to take the lead to 9-4. Freshman Tiffany Mendez fought back with two powerful kills off the hands of Junior Kylee Connally (Dallas, Texas) to make the score 11-7, Hawks still trailed. The Fighting Scots had a series of aces further widening their lead with a seven point run. The Hawks continued to battle until the end of the set with commanding kills from junior Juliana Robinshaw (South Windsor, Conn.) and Jo. Murphy. The Fighting Scots sealed the set with three straight kills by Clarabuch. Gordon leads the match 1-0 ending the first set 25-10.
- The Hawks opened up the second set with power leading 3-0 after a few attack errors by Gordon's Kelter and strong blocks by sophomore Jenna Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) and sophomore Liahnna Orange (Linden, N.J.). Gordon answered back with Keltner scoring a kill to get on the board, and the score tightened to 3-2. Both teams went on to continue trading point for point, score stood even at 12-12. The hawks began to pull away with a powerful service ace from Mendez and kill from Jen. Murphy, the Hawks lead 16-14. The match remained intense until the end of the set score was again even at 20-20. The Fighting Scots were able to pull away to take the win forcing a few errors from the Hawks and kill by Gordon's Murphy.
- The Fighting Scots opened the final set with a forceful eight point straight run. Jo. Murphy and Jen. Murphy were the first Hawks to put points on the board for this final set, 8-2. The Fighting Scots remained strong with consistent points to continue to their lead 20-9. Hawks were able to put some points on the board forcing errors from the Fighting Scots. Gordon College finished the match with a declaring finish 25-12.

- Jo. Murphy lead the offense with 12 kills, slamming 204 in just the 2024 season and adding to her career total of 271.
- Gordon College Annika Schmitt claimed 18 assists in this evening's match.
