Men's Soccer Fall to Roger Williams in First Round of CNE Playoffs

WEST HARTFORD, CONN. Hartford Men's soccer hosted their first home playoff game since 2019. The first round of Conference of New England (CNE) playoff action Saturday afternoon in which they were defeated 3-0

· Things got off to a slow start at Al-Marzook. field as the first half finished with a 0-0 score. Roger Williams let off five shots in the first half. 
Hartford also took their lone shot in the first half. Junior Goalkeeper Ryan Lunn (Southington, Conn.) kept the clean sheet through the first half, making three saves. 

· The second half started with a sense of urgency for the visiting Hawks of Roger Williams, as they would break the stalemate in the 57th minute with a goal from Tyler Jastrab. Hartford quickly looked for an equalizer but the sharp counterattack from Roger Williams led to another goal in the 57th minute this time coming from Liam Blaisdell. The Hawks of Hartford were unable to maintain their footing and again in the 71st minute Roger Williams would deal the crushing blow as they would go onto advance to the next round of the CNE playoffs, with a 3-0 victory.

  •  Lunn finished the day with six saves, three coming from each half.  
  • Roger Williams out-shot Hartford 12-1 with nine of those on frame. 
  • Hartford ended the day with 7 fouls and a yellow card from junior Jack Merril.
