Ojert Nets Four Goals In Home Opener

Graduate Jake Ojert scored four times in his Hartford debut to lead the University of Hartford men's lacrosse team to the season-opening 12-5 win over the University of Saint Joseph Tuesday on Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium

The Hawks took control of the game late in the first half, holding USJ scoreless during a 30-minute stretch, spanning the second through fourth quarters. Sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Leibold  registered 11 saves during the game-deciding 30 minutes. He finished with a career-high 17 saves.

 Three other Hawks - sophomore Aidan Kemp, along with freshman Aidan Ezra  and Nicholas Forgione - scored twice.

  • Faceoff specialist Cameron James and Ethan Hunt combined for 13-22. 
  • The rivalry game featured 24 infractions.
  • Ethan Hunt, and John Furino led the Hawks in playmaking, tallying two assists each.
  • Hartford finished with 33 shots, 21 of which were on goal, while USJ had 37 shots with 22 on goal. 
  • Second straight season the Hawks have opened with a win.
  • Ojert was efficient offensively, scoring four times in five shots on goal.
  • Hartford was 4-of-5 in extra man opportunities, while USJ was just 2-of-5.
