FLEMING ISLAND, Fla.: The University of Hartford men's golf team finished seventh place in the two-day Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational at the Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Fla.
INDIVIDUAL STATS | TEAM STATS
Senior Conor Bryne led the Hawks with a score of three-over 147, placing tenth. Bryne's second round included three more birdies, helping him lead the team in birdies with six and 10 pars. He got the last three of his birdies on the 11th, 15th, and 16th holes.
Senior Bryce Zimmerman moved up the leaderboard as he finished tied for 14th with five-over 149. Zimmerman had five total birdies; he recorded three on the first hole, second, third, and 12th hole) and two in the second round (second and 12th hole)
Graduate Manny Romero tied for the 23rd eight-over with an 152 while recording five total birdies. Romero's first round birdies were scored on the second, third, and 12th hole, while his second round included birdies on the second and 12th holes.
Monmouth, Fairfield, Merrimack, Binghamton, Bryant, Sacred Heart, Ferris State, and Purdue Fort Wayne were among the other schools that competed in the tournament. Purdue Fort Wayne placed first overall with 11-over 577, with a player finishing first and four finishing in the top 20.
DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS & NOTES: Men's Golf
The University of Hartford men's golf team competed in the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational and ended the first round, tied for 5th out of nine teams, posting a score of 10-over 298.
Byrne led the Hawks, tied for 5th place with a score of one-over 73. Byrne recorded three birdies, achieving his first on the third hole, followed by the 12th and 14th.
Austin Gambel and Turner Wegner tied for 18th. They showcased impressive performances, each recording four birdies. Gambel secured his birdies on the eighth, ninth, 11th, and 12th holes, while Wegner's birdies came on the second, 11th, 14th, and 17th holes.

The Men's golf team will return to play on April 6th at the two-day Bill Detrick/Trinity Spring Invitational at Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Connecticut.
