The University of Hartford baseball team dropped a pair of games to Keene State Saturday at Fiondella.
GAME ONE: KEENE STATE 7, HARTFORD 1
Keene State scored five runs in the seventh inning to open up an one-run game.
Both teams scored a single run in the first inning, and the Owls reclaimed the lead with a single run in the third inning.
Sophomore Cameron Boardman drove in Hartford's lone run, scoring freshman Alex Popovich. Four Hawks—Popovich, senior Jake Santiago, freshman Jon Melarzcik, and sophomore Jeremy Mangiameli recorded hits in the loss.
Starter Colin Blake (0-3) had his best outing of the season, hurling a season-long five innings. He allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits with three strikeouts.
GAME TWO: KEENE STATE 3, HARTFORD 1 (8 INN.)
Keene State scored a pair of extra-inning runs to secure the 3-1 win and the sweep.
Mangiameli singled through the rightside bringing home Hartford's only run as Santiago scored.
KSC forced extra innings with a run in the sixth inning. However, it could have been worse of the Hawks. The first three hitters reached, leading Hartford to call freshman Sam Smith out the bullpen. Smith got out of the jam with a double play and a groundout.
Smith (0-2) would allow two runs in the eighth inning to get saddled with the loss. He surrendered the runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
Junior Luke Rier turned in his best performance of the season with a season-best five innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits and three strikeouts.

· Following today's game, Rier solidified his position as the team's ERA leader, boasting an impressive 4.00 ERA.
· Santiago emerged as the Hawks' standout performer, distinguishing himself as the sole player to amass more than one hit today, tallying an impressive total of three hits.
· Sophomore Jackson Ciccone has maintained a remarkable batting record, securing 11 hits across 14 games. This showcases his consistency and reliability at the plate.
· Popovich extended his hitting streak in 13 games before having it snapped in the second game.
