The University of Hartford baseball team combined for 25 runs and 29 hits in posting the doubleheader sweep of Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon College Saturday at Fiondella Field.

Hartford was the road team as the games were moved from Gordon due to field conditions.

GAME ONE: HARTFORD 13, GORDON 3 (7 INN.)
Hartford scored in six of its seven trips to the plate, including a five-run second in securing the run-ruled victory.

Sophomore
Jeremy Mangiameli and senior
Jake Santiago had three hits and four RBI each, while the duo combined to score four runs. Mangiameli was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a double, and four RBI. Santiago did all of the heavy lifting for the cycle, finishing a single short, going 3-for-5 with a run scored, a double, a triple, homerun and four RBI.

Senior
Colin Blake (1-4) hurled his first collegiate complete game, allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits in seven innings of work.

INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES
- Eight of the nine starters recorded a hit with sophomore Ryan Melendez and freshman Josh Kaplan joining Mangiameli and Santiago with three hits.
- All nine starters scored at least one run.
- Hartford finished with six extra-base hits.
- The Hawks were five of six on stolen base attempts. The only caught stealing came on an over slide.

GAME TWO: HARTFORD 12, GORDON
The Hawks scored eight of their 12 runs over the final three innings to blow open the close game en route to the 10-run victory.

For the second straight game, Santiago fell a hit short of the cycle, finishing a triple shy of the cycle. The senior was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a homer, and four RBI.

Hartford took the lead with a pair of runs in the first inning, and then added two more runs in the fifth inning. After Gordon trimmed the lead in half, the Hawks tallied four runs in the seventh and four in the ninth.

Junior
Luke Rier (2-1) allowed no runs on three hits over five innings. He finished with seven strikeouts and five walks.

- Five players – sophomore Jackson Ciccone, freshman James Hinspeter, freshman Tyler Shannon, Melendez, and Santiago – all had at least two hits.
- Hartford has now won three consecutive games against CCC opponents.
- Sophomore Michael Featherstone has gone three straight outings without allowing a run, a span of 3.2 innings.
- Hartford pitching finished with 14 strikeouts as a staff.

Hartford (6-16-1 overall, 3-3 CCC) travels to Nichols 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Hawks fell 2-1 in extra innings on March 26.
