BIDDEFORD, ME - Graduate Jake Ojert and freshman Aidan Ezra notched a pair of goals as the University of Hartford men's lacrosse team beat Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent, the University of New England, 8-1 Saturday at Blue Bolt Field.

Ojert scored goals in the third and fourth periods, while adding an assist to junior Ryan Varano in the first period. Ezra scored goals in the first and second periods. 

Hartford raced out to a 3-0 lead and never trailed. The Hawks were able to extend the gap to six goals at the half and got a comfortable seven-goal lead to end the game 8-1 in the final minutes.

• The Hawks blew the game open by outscoring the Nor'easters 6-0 in the first half. 

• Hartford finished with 42 shots, 26 of which were on goal, while the UNE had 24 shots with 14 on goal.

• Hartford finished 20-of-22 in clear attempts and UNE finished 18-of-26. 

• Face-off specialists Cameron James and Ben Costanzo combined to win 7-of-13 face-offs.

• Varano scored his fifth goal of the season.

• Sophomore John Furino scored his third goal of the season. 

• Sophomore Aidan Kemp scored his 11th goal of the season.

• Freshman Ethan Hunt scored his 13th goal of the season.

• Freshman Christopher Ledwick defended the Hawks between the pipes, registering 13 saves while only allowing one goal.
