Hawks Continues Winning Ways in 3-2 Win Over Framingham State University

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The University of Hartford men's soccer team has extended its unbeaten streak to four after defeating Framingham State University by a 3-2 final. The Hawks improve to 3-0-1 on the young year has now had best start for the program since the 2014 season where the Hawks were also 3-0-1 through the first four games.

  • The Hawks dominated the early going getting six shots on the Rams in the first 20 minutes, but Tyler Holden made a pair of saves to keep the game even. In the 30th minute Hartford broke through as graduate student Alex Quinones (Bedford, N.H.) netted a goal on an assist by senior Devan Jessop (Ashaway, R.I.). Framingham State countered with a goal of their own in the 38th minute as Abdellah Eddahbi scored with an assist for Karl Hemmingsen as the first half concluded with the teams tied at 1-1. 
  • The Hawks flew fast in the second half scoring the second goal of the day in the 58th minute as senior Kellijah Morgan (Kingston, Jamaica) tallied his second goal of the season on a feed from Quinones. Just 30 seconds later and the lead grew to 3-1 as Quinones found his second goal of the day on assists by Morgan and junior Nick Castrovinci (Roxbury, N.J.). The Rams tried to respond quickly, but sophomore Ryan Lunn (Southington, Conn.) denied Kaio Santos Da Silva to keep the lead at 3-1. In the 76th minute the Rams finally added their second goal as John Holt beat Lunn to trim the lead to 3-2. The Hawks defense played strong in the final 14 minutes not allowing a shot as Hartford picked up the win.

"It feels good to put in a good shift as a team on an away game", said graduate student Alex Quinones (Bedford, N.H.). "We have worked so hard following the way and system we want to play and today it definitely payed off."

Inside the Numbers:
  • Quinones registered his first collegiate two-goal performance in the win to go with an assist. 
  • Morgan added his second goal of the season and his team-leading fourth assist on the year. 
  • De. Jessop and Castrovinci both added the other assists in the win.
  • Lunn made two saves in net for the Hawks improving to 2-0-1 on the year. 
  • The Hawks owned a 18-8 shot differential with a 8-4 advantage in shots on target.
