Hawks Drop First Match of the Year in CNE Opener to Endicott College

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - On Saturday the Hartford men's soccer team began Conference of New England (CNE) play dropping a conference match to Endicott College by a 5-0 final.

  • The Gulls quickly took the lead in the 2nd minute as Tiago Frazao scored on an assist by Max Karkos to give the visitors the early lead. Junior Nick Castrovinci (Roxbury, N.J.) tabbed the first chance for the Hawks but his shot was saved by Brady O'Toole. Endicott doubled their lead in the 20th minute as Frazao scored on an assist by Konrad Krysztoforski. Junior Ryan Lunn (Southington, Conn.) made a pair of saves for the Hawks to keep the deficit at a pair of goals, but in the 35th minute the Gulls got a third goal as Karkos beat Lunn to grow the lead to 3-0 headed into the second half. 
  • Graduate student Alex Quinones (Bedford, N.H.) had the first opportunity for the Hawks getting a shot stop by O'Toole. In the 65th minute a red card for Hartford setup a penalty opportunity for the Gulls. Sam Cochran delivered the goal to extend the lead to 4-0. Endicott would score one final time as Kyle Montalvo beat freshman Cristian Vitti (Stamford, Conn.) to push the score to the 5-0 final. 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Lunn made four saves for the Hawks in the first  71 minutes. Vitti came in relief making two stops in just over 18 minutes.
  • The Gulls out shot the Hawks by a 14-3 margin including a 11-3 on target differential.

The Hawks will host Mitchell College on Monday September 23rd with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
