WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford women's soccer team debuted at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium in 2024 defeating Montclair State University by a 2-0 final on Saturday.

- The Hawks and Red Hawks battled in the opening minutes with three early shots for the home team all stopped by Salange Bell. Junior Sejal Johnson (Weddington, N.C.) kept the game at 0-0 with a single save in the opening 10 minutes. Hartford struck first as a give-and-go play between graduate student Christina Stone (Glastonbury, Conn.) and graduate student Imani Jenkins (Middletown, Conn.) worked to perfection with Jenkins netting her 54th goal in her Hawks career. Both teams would get one more shot, but each off target as Hartford held a 1-0 lead.
- In the second half the Red Hawks had the first opportunity as Samira Lukovic had a chance stopped by Johnson. In the 72nd minute the lead doubled as freshman Angela Chávez (Glastonbury, Conn.) lifted a left-footed shot over the keeper to give the Hawks the second goal on an assist by freshman Alexa Frendo (Whitby, Ontario). Montclair State would have two more chances in the game, but Johnson maintained her clean sheet with another save as the Hawks pulled off the 2-0 victory.

- Hartford out shot the Red Hawks by a 12-7 margin and a 7-4 on target margin.
