Hawks Volleyball Splits Senior Day with Five-Set Victory Over Wheaton College

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Hawks volleyball held host to a tri-match between the Hawks, the Hamilton College Continentals and the Wheaton College Lyons on Friday picking up a win against Wheaton College.

Rapid Recap (L 3-0 (26-24,25-18,26-24)):

  • The Hawks hopped out to an early lead in this one, taking five straight points to make the score 5-1. Senior Juliana Robinshaw (South Windsor, Conn.) led the way, setting up her squad to score with her service. Hamilton, however, would not go quietly, storming back due to the dominance of outside hitter Amelia Hahn. The Continentals flipped the script, pulling all the way back, taking the first set 26-24.
  • Hamilton rode the momentum of their first set comeback into the second, jumping on the Hawks early. Hartford would keep fighting as junior Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) and junior Jenna Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) took over for the Hawks on both sides of the ball. Hartford could only fight for so long though, as the Continentals regained full control of the set, running away from Hartford 25-18.
  • In the beginning of the third set, both teams battled back and forth until Hamilton pulled away scoring six straight points on the Hawks. Hartford answered right back as senior Kylee Connally (Dallas, Texas) carried her squad to 4 straight points on service. Both teams would remain in lockstep until Kendall Scholz of Hamilton led the way with 5 straight points to close out the Hawks 26-24.

  • Hartford led 12-8 in the fourth set, but the Lyons chipped away eventually taking a 15-14 lead. Two kills from Robinshaw heled the Hawks stay close, but Wheaton would eventually hold on for a 25-20 set four win.
