CNE Playoff Preview: The University of Hartford Men’s Soccer is Set to Face Western New England University for round one of the Conference of New England Playoffs.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. The Hartford Men's Soccer team, hosts the Western New England University Bears for round one of the Conference of New England (CNE) Playoffs. Kick off is set for Saturday, Nov. 1st at 1:00PM. 

 

No. 4 University of Hartford Hawks (10-5-2, 6-3-1 CNE) vs No 5. Western New England University Golden Bears (8-8-2, 6-3-1 CNE) - 1:00PM start 
 

Hartford Headlines:

  • The Hawks ended the regular season with an overall record of 10-5-2 with a CNE record of 6-3-1. They faced Roger Williams who was ranked 25 in the nation during their conference season, where they had a 3-0 victory on October 18 in Bristol, RI. 

  • The team held their ground throughout the end of their regular season unbeaten for eight consecutive games. 

  • Junior Austin Murawski (Rocky Hill, CT.)  started in 15 of their 17 games, where he scored 9 goals and had 7 assists throughout the season.

  • Senior Ryan Lunn (Southington, CT.) had an astounding 48 saves in the 12 games he started and played, leaving him with a .828 save percentage.  

  • The Hartford defense has stood strong all season long with senior Adam Eley (Newington, CT), sophomore David Czubat (Rocky Hill, CT), senior Jack Merril (Newton, N.J.), and sophomore Brayden Tahiliani (Whitby, Ontario)  holding down the defensive line. 

  • The first time the Hawks faced the Bears during the season they came out victorious with a 2-1 win with goals coming from Senior Nick Castrovinci (Roxbury, N.J.) and Sophomore Jared Noble (Nesconset, N.Y).

 

WNE Headlines:

  • WNE heads into the playoffs where they are the fifth seed in the conference after five back to back wins during their conference season.

  • The Bears top scorers, Tyler Lewis and Ben Riley, both scored 9 goals during their season where Lewis led offensively with 22pts, and Riley not far behind with 19pts. 

  • Braylon Casinghino led the Bears goalkeeping stats with 28 saves, leaving him with a  .636 save percentage.
