Tahiliani's Winner Snaps Hawks Losing Streak

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - The Hartford men's soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak on Monday night defeating inner-state opponent Eastern Connecticut State University 1-0. Sophomore Brayden Tahiliani (Whitby, Ontario) provided the winner in the 81st minute.

Rapid Recap:

  • The Warrior had the first opportunities in the game with six corners in the first seven minutes and two shots that both missed the target. Senior Nick Castrovinci (Roxbury, N.J.) had the first opportunity for the Hawks in the 17th minute with a save coming for Jack Harmon. Castrovinci would get another chance to score in the 33rd minute but again Harmon made a good stop as the teams went into the break even at zero.
  • In the 48th minute Niall O'Brien had a huge chance for Eastern Conn. but sophomore Cristian Vitti (Stamford, Conn.) made a good save to keep the game even. Both teams would not find target again until the 81st minute when Tahiliani would head home the corner taken by sophomore Jared Noble (Nesconset, N.Y.). The Warriors would get a free kick in the 89th minute after a Noble yellow but nothing would come of it as the Hawks picked up the much needed win.
Post Game Press:
"It was an unbelievable feeling getting the winner", said sophomore Brayden Tahiliani (Whitby, Ontario). "After being being tied the whole game and having so many opportunities it was bound to happen. I was lucky enough to be the man to do it for the team and am so proud of the team for sticking together and believing."
