MILTON, Mass. - The Hartford volleyball team picked up the first Conference of New England (CNE) win of the season defeating Curry College 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-14).

Rapid Recap: 

• The Hawks jumped ahead 6-1 in the early going with three early aces coming from senior Kylee Connally (Dallas, Texas) and freshman Lauren Johnson (Fort Collins, Colo.). Hartford would continue to expand the lead pushing it to 15-5 with kills coming to Johnson and junior Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.). The Coloniels would start a comeback cutting the set to 19-15, but the Hawks would end strong winning 25-20 on another kill for Johnson. 
• Hartford kept the momentum in the early going leading 9-4 with two early kills for Jo. Murphy. Curry College cut the game to 15-13, before Hartford would go on a closing 10-4 run with strong performances from Jo. Murphy and freshman Grace O'Brien (Avon, Conn.). 
• The Hawks led early 6-0 with three early kills by Johnson and two aces by Connally. Hartford would get another six-point spurt to push the lead to 19-10 with kills and aces to Johnson. The Hawks would put the match away early winning set three 25-14.

"It felt great to come together as a team, play confident and get the win", said freshman Lauren Johnson (Fort Collins, Colo.). 

Inside the Numbers: 

• Johnson had a great day with 11 kills, five aces and five digs. Jo. Murphy had 14 kills and seven digs. 
• Connally led the passing effort with 20 assists to go with three aces and three digs. 
• Junior Kalle Legassey (Prospect, Conn.) led the defense with 14 digs to go with a pair of aces.  

Up Next: 
The Hawks will host Gordon College on Saturday with a 1:00 PM start.
