WENHAM, Mass. - The Hartford men's basketball team dropped a Conference of New England (CNE) contest on Saturday falling to Gordon College by a 89-83 final.

- The Hawks jumped ahead by a 9-2 start highlighted by a three-pointer by junior Drew Stack (Madison, N.J.). The lead blossomed to 15-5 after buckets by freshman Troy Santos (Taunton, Mass.), sophomore Joshua Petion (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Kaosi Chijioke (Atlanta, Ga.). The Hawks continued to lead past the midway point of the first half with three-pointers by freshman Reggie Selden (Franklinville, N.J.), Stack and freshman Cooper Galdenzi (Clinton, Conn.) as the visitors led 28-19. The Scots chipped away taking a 12-0 run to earn the 29-28 lead with 7:06 to play in the first. The Hawks and Scots would trade the lead over the next five minutes with a tough layup by Chijioke followed by a triple for Stack giving Hartford a 40-37 advantage. Stack would net another two-pointer to hold a seven point lead headed into the second half.
- Selden opened up the second half on fire netting two threes in the first three minutes as Hartford extended the lead to 56-44. The Hawks continued to hold the double-digit lead until the 12 minute mark of the second half before the Scots netted back-to-back triples to cut the deficit to four points with 11:21 to play. Stack tallied his fourth three to give the Hawks a four-point advantage, but Gordon responded in a big way taking a 77-73 lead with 5:31 to play. Chijioke drilled two-consecutive trifectas as the Hawks tok the 79-77 lead, but the Scots pushed back ahead with a 7-0 run to lead by five with 1:40 to play. Selden would net a three to trim the deficit to 85-83 with 52 seconds left, but Gordon would get a huge three to clinch the victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- Chijioke had another big game with 23 points (8-18 FG, 3-5 3PT, 4-4 FT) to go with nine rebounds and three assists. Stack registered 17 points (6-10 FG, 5-9 3PT), eight rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. Selden added 17 points (6-9 FG, 4-5 3PT, 1-2 FT) to go with two assists.
- Bernie McGuinness led the Scots with 28 points (9-13 FG, 5-6 3PT, 5-8 FT) to go with three rebounds. Bryce Smith added 19 points (5-9 FG, 4-5 3PT, 5-6 FT), seven assists and six rebounds in the win.
