WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford men's basketball team fell in the final home game of the 2024-25 season falling to Suffolk University by a 89-69 final.

- The Hawks and Rams started off shooting hot from the field as Suffolk earned a 10-7 lead. The Rams extended the lead to 19-9 on a 9-2 run, before a layup by sophomore Jared Similien (Brunswick, Maine) kick started a 8-0 run with two junior Drew Stack (Madison, N.J.) threes. Freshman Reggie Selden (Franklinville, N.J.) drilled a three to cut the deficit to 22-20, but Nick Verdile netted back-to-back trifectas as the Rams pushed the lead back to eight points. The Hawks continued to battle with buckets by sophomore Kaosi Chijioke (Atlanta, Ga.), but Suffolk pushed the lead 43-32 headed into the break.
- Freshman Troy Santos (Taunton, Mass.) provided a spark in the early going of the second half as the Hawks trailed by 53-37. Suffolk continued to expand the lead over the next couple of minutes pushing it to a game-high 27 point advantage with 12:08 to play. Sophomore Jaylen Brown (Baldwin, N.Y.) finished a layup followed by a pair of shots at the charity stripe to end the run. Sophomore Leonard Pelzer (Berlin, Germany) added a paint finish along with a block, while Selden provided five more points as the lead was 78-56 with 7:10 to play. Another three by Selden cut the lead to 18 points, but the Rams held on eventually winning by a 89-69 final.
Inside the Numbers:
- Selden had a stellar performance off the bench with 14 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3PT, 1-1 FT) and three assists. Chijioke tabbed 21 points (9-17 FG, 1-6 3PT, 2-3 FT) to be the team leader in scoring. Santos added 11 points (5-12 FG, 1-7 3PT), two steals and two assists in the loss.
- Cole LeVangie led the Rams with 21 points 9-11 FG, 3-5 3PT), eight rebounds and three assists. Verdile added 20 points (6-9 FG, 6-9 3PT, 2-2 FT) and two assists.
