MILTON, Mass. - The Hawks women's basketball team finished off the 2024-25 regular season on Saturday falling to Curry College by a 51-48 final. Hartford already secured a Conference of New England (CNE) Playoff game and will be on the road Tuesday night.
Rapid Recap:
- Curry took a 6-0 lead in the early going, but the Hawks answered back with an 8-0 run highlighted by six points for sophomore Sidnee Bowden (Canton, Ohio). The Colonels responded with the final five points of the quarter to lead 11-8 after 10 minutes.
- Freshman Emma O'Hare (Drexel Hill, Pa.) netted a three to start the second quarter followed by a layup, but Curry maintained a 14-13 lead with 6:01 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Ella Marchesani (Saddle Brook, N.J.) and freshman Maya Okoro (Frisco, Texas) combined for a 6-0 spurt as the Hawks jumped in front 19-15. Sophomore Taryn Blevins (St. Louis, Mo.) finished off the half with a made jumper as the Hawks held a 23-21 lead into halftime.
- Freshman Maddie MacCannell (Portsmouth, N.H.) kicked off the second half with a bucket in the paint as the Hawks continued to lead. The Colonels battled back with a 10-1 run to get the lead and push it to 33-28 with 5:41 to play in the quarter. Three points from the charity stripe and another finish by Marchesani knotted the game at 33-33 with 3:03 to play. A sophomore Lauren Sabia (Simsbury, Conn.) jumper and a pair of free throws by freshman Mackenzie Hohulin (Plymouth, Mass.) kept the Hawks trailing by just a single point headed into the fourth quarter.
- Freshman Mikaela Williams (Windsor, Conn.) finished a layup followed by two more free throws by Blevins to jump back in front 42-41 with 7:54 to play. Curry would respond with a huge 8-2 run stopped by Williams with another layup as the hosts led 49-46 with 4:12 to play. Hohulin made a jumper to keep the deficit at three points with 48 seconds to go, but Hartford couldn't find the big bucket to fall by the 51-48 score.
Inside the Numbers:
- Hohulin put together a good game contributing eight points (2-7 FG, 0-1 3PT, 4-4 FT) to go with seven boards. Bowden tallied seven points (3-6 FG, 0-3 3PT, 1- FT), five rebounds and two blocks, while Blevins added four points (1-7 FG, 0-3 3PT, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Curry was led by Kyle McCarthy who put together 15 points (5-14 FG, 3-6 3PT, 2-2 FT) and four assists. Lauren Morse added 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-8 3PT) and two boards.
- The Hawks dominated the glass out rebounding the Colonels by a 52-31 margin, while scoring 15 second chance points. Curry finished the game with seven three-pointers compared to just a lone three for Hartford.

The Hawks will travel on Tuesday in the CNE Playoffs First Round match up against the University of New England.
