MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Hawks women's lacrosse team completed a successful spring break trip on Wednesday defeating Berry College by a 12-6 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Vikings took the early lead getting a goal 90 seconds into the game. The Hawks would respond with two quick goals by sophomore Laurel McIntosh (West Kingston, R.I.) and senior Meghan Smith (Orange, Conn.). Berry College evened the scored quickly after to tie the game with 9:05 to play in the first. Sophomore Madison Olmstead (Wolcott, Conn.) scored to give Hartford the lead on an assist by sophomore Talei Ricketson (Centennial, Colo.). The Hawks kept flying getting three more goals to take a 6-2 advantage after the end of the first quarter.
- McIntosh started the second quarter with a goal assisted by sophomore Lauren Samela (Cheshire, Conn.). Sophomore Mandi Rivard (Vernon, Conn.) held the Vikings scoreless in the quarter making three saves as the Hawks held a 7-2 lead into half.
- Olmstead kept the Hawks rolling extending the lead to 8-2. Berry would respond to stop the run with a third goal with 12:39 remaining in the third quarter. Samela would get the final goal of the frame to give Hartford a 9-3 lead after three.
- Olmstead and McIntosh each tallied the hat-trick to start the fourth quarter as the lead grew to 11-3. Smith picked up another goal with 6:14 to play to push the lead to nine. The Vikings rallied for three final goals eventually falling 12-6.

"It was a great experience to see what lacrosse was like down south and to visit Atlanta", said sophomore
Lauren Samela (Cheshire, Conn.). "I would have never come down here if it wasn't for Hartford Lacrosse and i'm glad I did."
Inside The Numbers:
- Samela led the defensive effort causing four turnovers to go with six ground balls, two goals and a helper.
- Olmstead registered four points on three goals and an assist to go with eight grounders. Smith and McIntosh each added three goals.
- Rivard picked up her fourth win of the year making nine saves. Sophomore Emily Campbell (Plainville, Mass.) finished the game making two saves.
- Molly Cross led the Vikings with three goals.
