BRISTOL, R.I. - The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team trailed 6-4 with 2:12 left in the game on Wednesday against Roger Williams, before scoring three consecutive goals to secure a huge 7-6 Conference of New England (CNE) victory. With the win the Hawks has extended its winning streak to three games.
Rapid Recap:
- Hartford took an early 1-0 lead after a minute of play as freshman Shaun Wright (Frederick, Md.) scored on an assist by junior Aidan Kemp (South Orange, N.J.). The lead would grow to 2-0 with 2:52 to play as sophomore Michael Novotny (Cornwall, N.Y.) fired a shot past the keeper on the power play with an assist by sophomore Aidan Ezra (New Milford, Conn.). Sophomore CJ Ledwick (Falmouth, Mass.) would make two stops for the Hawks to keep the 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- Roger Williams battled back in the second quarter delivering three-straight goals over six minutes of action to take a one goal advantage. Hartford would respond after a pair of Ledwick saves as freshman Gavin Pelletier (Southington, Conn.) scored to even the score at 3-3 as we headed into halftime.
- The Hawks of Hartford would take the lead once again in the third quarter as graduate student Jake Ojert (Doylestown, Pa.) bested the keeper with 8:14 to play in the third. Ledwick would make five saves in the 15 minutes, but the final shot of the quarter got past him as RWU tied the score at 4-4 as we went into the fourth.
- Roger Williams scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to lead 6-4 with 6:33 to play. With 2:12 Hartford would start its comeback as sophomore Maxton McPhee (Dudley, Mass.) scored on an assist by senior Ryan Varano (Avon, Conn.). Sophomore Ben Costanzo (Chester, Conn.) followed it up with a key face-off win to give Hartford the possession right back. Ezra would finish the goal on an assist by Pelletier to even the score at 6-6 with 1:31 to play. Costanzo would win from the dot again to give Hartford the ball with under a minute to play. After a timeout, Ezra returned the favor to Pelletier who finished Roger Williams with a snipe to give the Hawks a 7-6 victory in Bristol.

Inside The Numbers:
- Pelletier led the offense with two goals and an assist, including the last minute game-winner. Ezra added three points with a goal and two helpers in the win, while six other Hawks added a single point.
- Defensively junior Tobias Ballester (Westwood, N.J.) collected seven grounders to go with a caused turnover. Senior Nick DiDomizio (Cheshire, Conn.) added a cause and two grounders of his own.
- Ledwick picks up the win in the cage stopping 16 shots in the win.
- Costanzo finished 9-15 from the face off circle in the win.
