WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team picked up its fourth-straight Conference of New England (CNE) win on Saturday defeating the University of New England by a 14-5 final.
Rapid Recap:
- Sophomore CJ Ledwick (Falmouth, Mass.) would make two early saves for the Hawks as the defense stayed strong in the early going. Hartford jumped in front as sophomore Nick Forgione (Denville, N.J.) scored on an assist by sophomore Aidan Ezra (New Milford, Conn.) with 7:29 to play in the first. Two minutes later Ezra doubled the lead with a fancy finish. Senior Nick DiDomizio (Cheshire, Conn.) had a huge showing with two caused turnovers as the Hawks kept the Nor'Easters off the scoring sheet in the first quarter.
- Ezra found the net in the first minute of the second quarter as the lead grew to 3-0. Freshman Shaun Wright (Frederick, Md.) add a goal of his own at 12:05 in the second as the lead was quickly four goals. Ezra finished the early hat-trick getting the fifth for the home team to draw a timeout at 9:38 of the second. The Nor'Easters got on the board to stop the run before the midway point of the second scoring twice as the lead was cut to just three. Wright would answer picking up a rebound before firing it into the back of the cage. Sophomore Ethan Hunt (Skaneateles, N.Y.) added a goal on a feed from Wright and junior Aidan Kemp (South Orange, N.J.) closed the half strong scoring a rocket as the Hawks led 8-2.
- The lead grew to 9-2 after three quarters as sophomore Eddie Sadowski (Mansfield, N.J.) spun past a defender and picked up his first collegiate goal on a feed from DiDomizio. Ledwick would add three saves including a nasty kick save with 2:03 to play in the quarter.
- Forgione added a second goal of the day to start the fourth on an assist by Kemp. Hunt and Ezra each registered goals of their own as the lead blossomed to 12-2. Sophomore Michael Novotny (Cornwall, N.Y.) picked up the 13th goal assisted by Wright as Kemp closed things out for the Hawks with a 14th goal with 6:04 to play. The Nor'Easters would close the game with the final three goals losing by a 14-5 final.

"It feels great to get the CNE win today", said senior
Nick DiDomizio (Cheshire, Conn.). "Our biggest thing after coming off some tough games at the beginning of the year is coming together. Our offense and defense being able to compliment each other and string some wins together so it feels great. Defensively playing together, being able to support our short-sticks and having trust in everyone in their match ups."
Inside The Numbers:
- DiDomizio led the defensive effort with three caused turnovers to go with three grounders and an assist. Junior Tobias Ballestar ( Westwood, N.J.) added two causes and ground balls.
- Ezra added a five point game to lead the offense on four goals and an assist. Kemp and Wright each tallied two goals and two assists while Forgione had three points on two scores and a helper.
- Ledwick picked up the win in the cage making eight saves in 50 minutes. Sophomore John Hintze (Ellington, Conn.) made a single stop in four minutes in the cage.
