DUDLEY, Mass. - The Hartford softball team improved to 5-4-1 in Conference of New England (CNE) play after splitting a Friday double header against Nichols College.
Rapid Recap Game 1 (W, 10-1):
- The bats stayed silent for the first four innings with junior Carly Mayhood (Newton, N.J.) just allowing four runners in the first four frames. Hartford would strike first getting three runs in the top half of the fifth. Sophomore Sydney Matz (Ellington, Conn.) crossed the plate first on a steal of home as freshman Katrina Baran (Townsend, Del.) stole second. Senior Sarah Serrano (Windsor, Conn.) doubled down the line to score Baran. Freshman Lucy Lembo (Albany, N.Y.) added a ribby double.
- In the sixth the Hawks added four more runs of insurance. It started with sophomore Adelie Beebe (Sacramento, Calif.) doubling home senior Olivia Wolk (Sugarloaf, Pa.) who also doubled to start the inning. Serrano added another RBI with a single to bring home another run. Sophomore Alexis Sealey (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) doubled home two more runners as the lead was 7-0. The Bison got on the board in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly. Hartford put the game away in the top of the seventh adding three more runs on five hits. Junior Anita Farkash (Seaford, N.Y.) singled home a runner to kick off the inning. Baran added a ribby single, before Sealey added a second RBI single.
In the Circle:
- Mayhood picked up her sixth win of the year tossing six innings allowing one run on five hits with four punch outs. Freshman Ella Zobel (Clarence, N.Y.) closed things out throwing an inning without allowing a run.
At The Plate:
- Serrano went 2-for-4, with two runs and two RBIs to go with a double. Wolk went 3-for-4, with another two runs scored and a double. Sealey added a 3-for-5 game with two ribbys.
- The Hawks had five doubles and steals in the win.
Rapid Recap Game 2 (L, 3-2):
- The Hawks jumped ahead in game two early as Wolk singled to score Sealey as in the first inning. The Bison would answer in the bottom of the frame on an RBI triple. With the game at 1-1, Hartford would capture another lead as Serrano doubled home Farkash to put the visitors back in front.
- In the bottom of the third the Bison would get the answer as a RBI double saw the game hit 2-2. The Bison won the game in the seventh inning on a RBI walk off single.
In the Circle:
- Sealey went four innings getting the start allowing two runs on six hits to go with two strikeouts. Sophomore Gracie Hopkins (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) picked up the loss going 2.1 innings allowing the one run with a punch out.
At The Plate:
- Sealey went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and run scored. Serrano added a 1-for-2 game with a double and RBI. Wolk went 1-for-3 with the other RBI in game 2.

The Hawks will host Senior Day tomorrow against Curry College starting at 12:00 PM.
