BEVERLY, Mass. – The Hartford Hawks fell in a pair of Conference of New England (CNE) games on Saturday to #3/#4 Endicott College.
Rapid Recap Game 1 (L, 17-1):
- Endicott kicked off the game fast scoring five runs on five hits in the first inning to jump ahead. In the third the Gulls would get three more runs on three hits including a two run homer by TJ Liponis as the lead grew to 8-0. An eight spot followed in the bottom of the fourth as the home team continued to lead.
- Hartford got on the board in the fifth with a solo shot by junior Jeremy Mangiameli (Middlefield, Conn.). Endicott would get another run in the sixth en route to the win in seven innings.
At the Plate:
- Mangiameli launched his second homer of the season in the game one loss.
On the Mound:
- Freshman Jeffrey Blake (Hopewell, N.J.) picked up the loss going 2.1 innings allowing seven runs with two strikeouts. Junior Logan Huzi (Trumbull, Conn.) was next getting two outs allowing five runs. Senior Teague Mulcahy (Bayonne, N.J.) followed with two innings allowing four runs. Sophomore Tyler Blumetti (Southington, Conn) closed the game with an inning with three strikeouts allowing one run.
Rapid Recap Game 2 (L, 12-9):
- The Hawks jumped ahead in the first inning scoring two runs as graduate student Jake Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) singled home to score junior Jackson Ciccone (Danbury, Conn.) who singled to start the inning. Mangiameli added the second run on a RBI ground out to plate sophomore Alek Popovich (Rochdale, Mass.) who also singled in the first. The lead grew to 6-0 after the second as Hartford brought home four runs on five hits. Sophomore JJ Romatzick (Stratford, Conn.) picked up the first RBI on a infield single. Ciccone added a sacrifice fly. Popovich doubled home a run followed by a sac fly by Santiago. The Gulls got two runs back in the bottom of the third on a two-run homer with Hartford still leading 6-2.
- Endicott got right back into the game in the bottom of the fourth scoring three runs on one hit and two defensive errors as the lead was cut to 6-5. The Gulls evened the score in the fifth getting a RBI single. The Hawks would jump back in front in the seventh as Romatzick doubled in a run, but Endicott added six runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a huge 12-7 lead. Santiago got two RBIs in the ninth on a single, but the Hawks would come up short 12-9.
At The Plate:
- Popovich went 3-for-5 with two runs scored a RBI and a double. Ciccone went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. Santiago added four ribbys in a 2-for-4 game.
On the Mound:
- Freshman Justin Gouin (North Haven, Conn.) started the game going 3.2 innings allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts. Senior Luke Rier (Miami, Fla.) got a single out to close the fourth. Junior Michael Featherstone (Ramsey, N.J.) got the loss going three innings allowing three runs. Freshman Evan Gentile (Berlin, Conn.) got a single out while allowing three runs while freshman Michael Greco (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) closed things out getting two outs.

The Hawks return to action on April 22nd against Nichols College on the road.
