Five Hawks Named to College Sports Communicators Women's Track & Field / Cross Country Academic All-District Team

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - On Tuesday, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District women's track & field / cross country teams were announced with five Hawks featured. 

The College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® and Academic All-District® Teams program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. To be considered for inclusion on the Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® cross country team you must be a top-50 individual performance at the 2024 NCAA regional competition. To be considered for inclusion on the Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® track & field team you must be a top-50 regional ranking in single event (indoor or outdoor). 

The five members making the team are junior Tommie Barker (Canton, Conn.), junior Madison DiPasquale (Wallingford, Conn.), senior Cali Leonard (Boston, Mass.), sophomore Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) and junior Mariah Nichols (Barton, N.Y.). 

Barker ranked in the top 15 in two events in the region finishing the season in 11th in shot put (11.86 meters) and 15th in hammer throw (42.19 meters). Tommie had a pair of bronze medal finishes in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships in the shot put and hammer throw events. Barker threw a career-best on March 29th in the hammer throw at a distance of 42.19 meters before hitting a new high in shot put on May 3rd in the New England D3 Outdoor Track and Field Championships tossing 11.86 meters good for 11th in the event. 

DiPasquale was a top 10 member in three events ranking 3rd in the shot put at 12.89 meters, 4th in discus throw at 41.15 meters and 9th in the hammer throw at 45.02 meters. Madison was named the CNE Field Athlete of the Year after finishing two events in second place and winning the women's discus throw at the CNE Championships. DiPasquale had her school-record throw for shot put at the New England D3 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 3rd tossing 12.89 meters for 4th place. 

Leonard finished ranked 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles event after a stellar senior season with a top time of 14.32. Cali was the CNE Champion in the event racing across the line in at a time of 15.04 seconds. She recorded her school-record time on April 19th in the Trinity College Invitational. 

Murphy was all over the rankings being touted in top 50 in six events in 2024-25. Jordan finished 2nd in high jump (1.68 meters), 3rd in heptathlon (4233), 20th in the 100 meter hurdles (27.95), 33rd in javelin (29.70 meters), 36th in shot put (10.30 meters) and 37th in long jump (4.91 meters). Murphy won the high jump at the CNE Championship clearing a 1.61 meter height. She later finished in 3rd in the same event at the New England D3 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 3rd.

Nichols ranked 30th in the region in the 400 meter hurdles event at a time of 1:12.34. Mariah completed this time on April 19th at the Trinity College Invitational. Nichols finished the outdoor season with an 8th place finish in the CNE Championship meet in the 400 meter hurdles at a time of 1:13.76.
