POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Hartford women's soccer team kicked off the 2025 season on Friday night tying Clarkson University by a 2-2 final. 

Rapid Recap:

• The Hawks and Golden Knights went the first 15 minutes without a shot. Freshman Anastasia Nerney (Glocester, R.I.) had a chance which was stopped by Isabelle Wood. Nerney would get the second shot of the game as well this time missing wide in the 30th minute. Clarkson would get one chance in the first half pushing a shot high as the teams entered the break 0-0. 
• Junior Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) kicked off the second half with a bang scoring on a feed from Nerney at 47:07 to give the visitors a lead. The Golden Knights added an answer 41 seconds later to even the score at 1-1 as Lillian Gillett scored. Hartford would get the next three shots but all stayed off target over the next 12 minutes. Senior Mayson Massaro (Sarasota, Fla.) would break the tie in the 62nd minute besting the keeper with another assist to Nerney. Clarkson again answered with another goal by Gillett on an assist by Brooke Everest in the 67th minute as the score was 2-2. Nerney and Brush had late chances but two huge saves by Wood kept the game at 2-2 in the end. 

Inside the Numbers:

• Brush registered her 26th collegiate goal while Massaro netted her eighth in the tie. 
• Nerney debuted strong with two assists to start her collegiate career. 
• Senior Sejal Johnson (Weddington, N.C.) made two saves in the draw. 
• Gillett had both goals for the Golden Knights to produce the offense for the home team. 
• The Hawks out shot the Golden Knights 11-5 with a 5-4 on target margin. 
• Hartford's unbeaten streak has hit 13 games with the last loss coming on October 1st of 2024 at Wesleyan University.
