West Hartford, Conn. - Hartford Hawks Men's Soccer took on the Hawks of Roger Williams University in a conference match where Roger Williams would come out on top 2-1.
Rapid Recap Â
- Hartford would start the game on fire scoring on a connection on a long throw-in 97 seconds into the contest as junior Brayden Tahiliani (Toronto, Ontario) would head home his fourth goal of the season on the throw from junior Adam Eley (Newington, Conn.). Possession was in contest and the game as a midfield and defensive scrap until Dylan Robbins of Roger Williams would smack a volley into the top right corner to even the score at one a piece in the 34th minute. Roger would keep their foot on the gas for the remainder of the first half but nothing would come of it as the first half ended 1-0. Â
- At the start of the second half RWU would take 4 shots in the opening fifteen minutes, all but one would go off target, but the lone shot of the bunch that was on target would be stopped by junior Christian Vitti (Stamford, Conn.) Hartford would kick it up having their first shot of the half in the 67th minute but it would be blocked and Hartford would get nothing out of it. In the 75th minute Louis Hawkins would finish off a free header in the middle of the six-yard box to put Roger in front. After the goal things started to unravel for both teams as Hartford players freshman Cole Jones (Plainville, Conn.) and junior Jaiden Daigle (Rocky Hill, Conn.) were issued yellow cards less than two minutes apart. In the final fifteen minutes there were six free kicks given, and Hartford would fail to find the net again falling 2-1 to Roger Williams. Â
