WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford women's lacrosse team pushed their home record to 3-0 this Tuesday afternoon after defeating Conference of New England (CNE) opponent, Curry College with a final score of 20-4.

- The Hawks controlled the opening draw and never looked back, using a dominant first quarter to build an early lead. Junior Katie Graham (Colchester, Conn.) opened the scoring on a man-up opportunity, with this Graham sparked the beginning of an 9-0 run over the Colonels. Sophomore Kate Zonin (North Smithfield, R.I.) and senior Courtney Ingham (Bedford, N.H.) each scored twice in the quarter. Junior Laurel McIntosh (West Kingston, R.I.) added the fifth goal, senior Sara Costa (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) and Zonin closed the quarter with late finishes. Behind strong draw control from junior Laurel Samela (Cheshire, Conn.), the Hawks held Curry scoreless through the first 15 minutes.
- Hartford continued to roll in the second, pushing their lead to 12 behind goals from McIntosh, junior Talei Ricketson (Centennial, Colo.), Costa, and Samela, After Curry got on the board midway through the quarter, the Hawks responded with a free-position goal from freshman Madeline Aiello (Whitesboro, N.Y.) to make it 13-1. The Colonels added a late goal in the final second but Hartford took a commanding 13-2 lead into halftime.
- Hartford stayed in control out of the break, adding to its lead with four goals in the third quarter. Costa got things started before assisting on a man-up goal from McIntosh. Zonin added a man-down score and later closed the quarter with another goal in the final second. Curry managed one goal in the frame, but the Hawks carried a 17-3 lead moving into the fourth.
- Hartford added three more goals in the final quarter to secure the win. Sophomore Brenna Slattery (Wilbraham, Mass.) kicked off the scoring the fourth with a free-position goal before Costa added another off an assist from Slattery. After CUrry found the back of the net once, Samela capped the scoring with a man-up free position goal in the final seconds, as the Hawks closed out a 20-4 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- Costa led the offensive effort with a six-point performance, tallying four goals and two assists, while picking up two ground balls and a caused turnover.Â
- Zonin followed with five points nabbing four goals and one assist. McIntosh tallied a hat-trick for the win, while Samela, Ingham, and Graham each put up two goals of their own.
- The Hawks totaled 13 ground balls and forced six caused turnovers, led by sophomore Emily Bussiere (Agawam, Mass.) with three ground ball pick ups and one caused turnover.
- In net, junior Emily Campbell (Plainville, Mass.) took the win in her 24 minutes with two saves for the team.
