MILTON, Mass. - The Hawks baseball team took on the Curry College Colonels in a Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader on Saturday where they would sweep the Colonels, 5-2 in game one and 12-0 in game two.
Rapid Recap Game 1: (W 5-2)
- Hartford got on the board quickly in the first inning when senior Jeremy Magiameli (Middlefield, Conn.) ripped a single to plate junior JJ Romatzick (Stratford, Conn) to put the Hawks ahead 1-0. Junior Anthony Bubba (Jefferson, N.J) got the start on the mound and let up the game tying run in the bottom frame. The Hawks would threaten in the second but not score, then things went quiet up until the bottom of the fourth where Bubba would allow a pair of singles and hit a batter which would give Curry the lead 2-1 after four. The Hawks would get that run right back in the top of the fifth with an RBI ground out from junior Alek Popovich (Dudley, Mass.).
- In the sixth the Hawks' offense would continue to create opportunities, junior Tyler Shannon (Madison, N.J.) and senior Patrick Joseph (Pomana, N.Y.) brought home the third and fourth Hawk runs on a pair of singles to put Hartford in front. After a pair of flawless innings from Bubba, senior Cameron Boardman (Daegu, South Korea) added a sac fly in the eighth to make it 5-2. Before junior Julian Rondon (West Nyack, N.Y.) finished the game off with a two inning save and a 5-2 Hawks win.
On the Mound:
- Bubba got credited for the win tossing 128 pitches in seven innings of two run ball. Rondon picked up the save in two scoreless innings while striking out 5.
At the Plate:
Rapid Recap Game 2: (W 12-0)
- The Hawks kicked off game two with a rapid start plating two runs in the first inning when senior Ryan Knight (Peabody, Mass.) was hit by a pitch to bring home the first run, JJ Romatzick would come home on a failed pickoff attempt to score run number two. The Hawks would not stop there in the second Romatzick drove in two more with a double, then Popovich brought Romatzick home on a double of his own making it 5-0. The Hawks would keep pouring on runs into the third and fourth sophomore Evan Curtiss (Simsbury, Conn.) tripled home a run, then junior Zaynn Godbee (Hartford, Conn.) brought Curtiss in with a sac-fly. Curtiss would pick up his second RBI of the game with a walk in the fourth to make it 8-0.
- Senior Joe Dooley (West Hartford, Conn.) put up a stellar first few innings,hitting the Colonels through four, Dooley's offense continued to show off for him after taking a break in the fifth, the bats go right back to work in the sixth, three straight hits lead off the inning started by back to back doubles from senior Jackson Ciccone (Danbury, Conn.) and Mangiameli scored the first run, than a sac-fly from Curtiss for his third RBI of the day would finish it off making the score 10-0. The Hawks would grab two more in the seventh with a Mangiameli RBI single and a Knight walk would bring in both the first and last run of game two. Dooley closed the door in the bottom of the seventh giving him the complete game shutout and the Hawks a mercy rule win, 12-0 in seven.

"I'm so proud of our guys and how we battled today," said senior
Joe Dooley (West Hartford, Conn.). "It makes it very easy to pitch when our hitters put up 12 runs. Our defense was unbelievable today and didn't give up a single error. Another great team win, and another conference sweep."
On the Mound:
- Dooley threw the first complete game shutout of his career facing one more batter than the minimum in just 81 pitches.
At the Plate:
- Six different Hawks drove in at least one run, Curtiss brought in three. Ciccone had three hits, Mangiameli had a pair and drove in two runs, and Romatzick had three hits and three RBIs. Knight was also on three times and drove in two runs. Every Hawk was on base at least twice.

The Hawks travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on the Western New England Golden Bears in a CNE tilt on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 P.M.
