Hartford Field Hockey Falls in Overtime to Ramapo College

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford field hockey team dropped a game in overtime to Ramapo College by a 3-2 final. The Roadrunners would end the game on a penalty stroke in the 69th minute.  

Rapid Recap:

  • The Hawks would dominate possession in the early going getting a goal out of it in the 7th minute. Sophomore Ashley Taylor (South Deerfield, Mass.) would get the goal for the lead scoring after a save from Emily Getz on a shot by sophomore Kyra Benard (Agawam, Mass.). Freshman Olive Thatcher (Keene, N.H.) almost doubled the lead in the 10th minute, but Getz made another save. The Roadrunners had chances in the 12th minute and the 13th minute, but freshman Leah Miller (Guilderford, N.Y.) made both saves as Hartford led 1-0 into the break. 
  • The Hawks continued to be on the attack with three more saves going for Getz keeping Ramapo in the game. The Roadrunners would even the score in the 24th minute as Ella Tinacci bested the keeper to even the score. Sophomore Ava Lipson (Colchester, Vt.) and freshman Alexina Lentes (Agawam, Mass.) would each have chances at the end of the second quarter but both shots were stopped as the game was 1-1 into halftime. 
  • Hartford would get another chance in the 31st minute, but once again Getz turned the shot away. Ramapo would take in the lead in the 37th minute as Kayla Gray drove and scored to take the lead. The Hawks would even the score in the 45th minute as off a corner Thatcher would find Lipson who fired it by the keeper. 
  • The fourth quarter would go scoreless with each teaming having chances to go for a winner. Freshman Lily Valentino (Waterford, Conn.) would get a defensive save in the 48th minute to keep the score 2-2. Lipson and Benard would have multiple chances but Olivia Wintrode would make all necessary saves as the score remained 2-2. 
  • In the overtime period there would be back and forth action with sophomore Carolyn Somers (Worcester, Mass.) making two early saves. Hartford would get two shots with both of Lipson's attempts being saved by Wintrode. Ramapo would get the winner in the 69th minute as Eliana Momm scored the stroke to win the game. 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Taylor picked up her third goal of the season, while Lipson would get her first of the 2026 season. 
  • Thatcher would pick up her second assist in the loss. 
  • Miller would stop four shots in the first 45 minutes, while Somers gets the loss in the 23:07 played making three saves. 
  • Getz would make 10 saves for the Roadrunners while Wintrode got the win making seven. 
  • Momm, Gray and Tinacci would each score in the win for Ramapo. 
  • The Hawks out shot the Roadrunners 27-11 with a 20-11 on target differential.
