WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford women's soccer team picked up their fifth-straight win on Wednesday afternoon defeating Wellesley College by a 5-3 final. Freshman Taylor Freimuth (Terryville, Conn.) led the way with her first collegiate hat-trick.
Rapid Recap:
- The Blue would jump ahead 1-0 just 24 seconds into the game as Olivia Chow-Gillette found Areet Rao for a goal right out in the start. The Hawks would answer in the 10th minute as sophomore Anastasia Nerney (Glocester, R.I.) found Freimuth for her first strike of the day. Hartford would continue the pressure, getting the lead in the 16th minute as Nerney scored this time on a feed from senior Reese Sadler (Newington, Conn.) as the Hawks led 2-1. Just two minutes later the Blue would respond getting a goal from Maya Firaser on an assist by Elena Garcia. Junior Sara Rieger (Waxhaw, N.C.), Nerney and senior Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) all had chances to break the tie in the tail end of the first half, but Olivia Lore made saves as the game stayed knotted headed into the second half.
- The Blue almost jumped ahead in the 47th minute as Chow-Gillette got a shot saved by freshman Madelyn Nunnemacher (Sutton, Mass.). Hartford would counter in a big way as Freimuth would score her second of the day to take the lead. Wellesley would get two more attempts in the 51st minute but Nunnemacher would stand strong keeping the lead. Hartford would get another goal in the 61st minute as Freimuth would score again to give the Hawks a 4-2. Just three minutes later the Hawks continued their attack as Nerney scored as the lead hit 5-2 with 27 minutes to play. Wellesley would get back on the score sheet in the 77th minute as Fraser would score again. The teams would not have a lot of chances in the remaining 13 minutes as the Hawks escaped with the 5-3 win.

Inside the Numbers:
- Freimuth registered her first collegiate hat-trick in the win. Taylor is now up to seven goals on the season through her first six games.
- Nerney also had a huge game with a brace and an assist in the win. Sadler added her second assist of the year.
- Nunnemacher holds a 5-0-0 record after her first five starts making eight saves while allowing the three goals.
- Fraser led the Blue with a brace off the bench in 42 minutes. Rao added the other goal.
- Olivia Lore made seven saves in the loss for Wellesley.
- Hartford would hold a 28-17 advantage in shots while both teams had 12 on target each.
