EAST BOSTON, Mass. - The Hartford women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games on Wednesday night defeating Suffolk University by a 2-1 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Hawks first chance came in the 19th minute as freshman Taylor Freimuth (Terryville, Conn.) tried to finish a cross that drew a fantastic save from Arden Rose. Hartford would take the lead in the 28th minute as Freimuth found the top corner on a feed from sophomore Kaylee Benson (Higganum, Conn.). Just two minutes later the Hawks would get a second as a through ball got senior Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) a break away. Brush would be taken down in the box and would convert the penalty to give the two goal advantage. Suffolk would get four more shots in the first half with only one finding the target which had a Nunnemacher save as the lead stayed 2-0 headed into the break.
- The teams would battle for possession in the early going of the second half with no clear attempt on target in the first 15 minutes. The first shot hit the back of the target as the Rams got a goal back. Angelina Giovanni would get the score on an assist by Isa Peraza on a great build up play.
