WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford men's soccer team had their unbeaten run end at four games on Friday falling to Suffolk University by a 1-0 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Rams started off strong getting five shots in the first 15 minutes, with junior Cristian Vitti (Stamford, Conn.) making two early saves. In the 26th minute Suffolk would get a breakthrough as Mohamed Mehaya got his 7th goal of the season on a pass from Zach Vlachos. The Hawks would try to get back into the game getting a pair of attempts but both missed the mark as the Rams held a 1-0 lead into the break.
- The second half started slow with the first attempt on target coming in the 54th minute as Mehaya had a chance with another save coming for Vitti. Freshman Cole Jones (Plainville, Conn.) got the lone attempt on target for Hartford but Ian Caldwell made the save. Suffolk would only have one more chance in the match in the 67th minute, but Vitti came through again. The Hawks would try to get an equalizer but could not find one as the Rams won 1-0.
Inside the Numbers:
- Hartford drops their second game of the season and first Conference of New England (CNE) game of the year.
- Vitti fell to 2-2-2 on the season making four saves in the defeat.
- Mehaya scored his 7th goal of the year, while Vlachos had his second assist.
- Caldwell made one save in the shutout win for Suffolk.
- Hartford was out shot by the Rams by a 14-7 margin. Suffolk had an on target advantage by a 5-1 margin.
