WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Hartford men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match up on Tuesday afternoon falling to RV (Recieving National Votes) Williams College by a 5-0 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Hawks had an early chance in the 2nd minute as sophomore Eddie Hageman (Colchester, Conn.) had a shot saved by Kai Darrell. The Ephs would score twice in the opening three minutes getting a goal at the 2:00 minute mark and the 3:06 mark. JJ Ruehlemann and Alex Bethencourt were the goal scorers. Williams would stay on the offensive getting five more shots on in the next eight minutes of play. The Ephs would get a third goal in the 17th minute as Jake Farmer scored on assists from Bethencourt and Chase Caires. Hartford would get their next chance in the 29th minute as freshman Cole Jones (Plainville, Conn.) had a shot saved by Darrell. The Ephs would end the first half strong as Lorcan Mitchell would score in the 42nd minute on an assist by Nick Appleton as the home team led 4-0 at the break.
- In the second half Hageman had another chance in the 52nd minute but Henry Fireman made the stop. The in the 57th minute the Ephs were given a penalty as junior Adam Eley (Newington, Conn.) would foul inside the box. Luca Ruta would convert the penalty to give Williams the 5-0 advantage. Hartford would get two chances in the 67th minute as junior Jaiden Daigle (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and junior Jared Noble (Nesconset, N.Y.) both couldn't get the Hawks on the board. Williams would slow down their attack in the final 20 minutes as the teams ended with the 5-0 final.
Inside the Numbers:
- Junior Cristian Vitti (Stamford, Conn.) made six saves in the loss in 73 minutes, while freshman Aiden Chrabascz (Longmeadow, Mass.) would stop a single shot in the loss.
- Bethencourt led the Ephs with a goal and two assists, while Ruta added a goal and an assist.
- Darrell and Fireman combined for the clean sheet making six saves.
- Williams out shot Hartford by a 26-14 margin and a 12-6 on target advantage.
