WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Hartford women's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2026 campaign on Sunday defeating Emmanuel College by a 3-1 final. The Hawks had difficult finishing, but found a winner against the Saints who played with 10 players for 74 minutes.
Rapid Recap:
- The Saints found a stunner in the opening minutes on a counter attack as Meghan Brazeau found Kayla Silveira who pushed it through to Grace Foster, who hit the back of the net for the early lead. Paige Letourneau kept the pressure on for the visitors getting a shot on in the 9th minute which was comfortably saved by freshman Madelyn Nunnemacher (Sutton, Mass.). In the 16th minute the Hawks had their first opportunity as senior Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) beat Abby Chambers and was getting into the box. Chambers took Brush down in the area to give Hartford a penalty. Chambers was then given a red card for a foul in an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Senior Reese Sadler (Newington, Conn.) stepped up to the spot and was denied by Teigan Robie as the game stayed 1-0 in favor of the Saints. In the 32nd minute the Hawks subs made a difference again as freshman Tessa Mulvey (Arlington, Mass.) slid a clever through ball to freshman Taylor Freimuth (Terryville, Conn.) who equalized beating Robie. Neither side would get another chance as the teams headed into the break 1-1.
- Hartford came out of the locker room firing getting four shots on Emmanuel in the first 13 minutes with three saves going to Robie. The Hawks would take the lead in the 73rd minute as Brush would draw another foul this time right outside the box and Sadler would get redemption hitting the bottom left corner to give Hartford the lead. Hartford would generate numerous chances in the second half with Robie getting three more saves. The Hawks would find an insurance strike in the 90th minute as sophomore Anastasia Nerney (Glocester, R.I.) would find Freimuth who once again got in behind the defenders and picked a corner. Hartford would go on to win by the 3-1 margin.

Taylor Freimuth (Terryville, Conn.). "We had the extra player, so we had to keep it on the ground and play with each other, which got us the winner."
Inside the Numbers:
- Freimuth ends her debut week with three goals to her name after scoring the brace in her first home game. Sadler scored her seventh career goal in the win and second game-winner.
- Mulvey picked up her first collegiate point with the assist as the reserve played 32 minutes in the win.
- Nunnemacher got her first collegiate win with just a single save and the goal allowed.
- Grace Foster scored the first goal for the Saints of 2026 in the fourth minute. Robie made seven saves in the loss while allowing the three goals.
- Hartford dominated possession being up a player for the 74 minutes, they out shot the Saints 13-4 with a 10-2 on target differential.
