SOPHOMORE (2013)
Appeared in 10 games, all in a relief role … pitched a total of 13.2 innings, allowing 20 runs, all earned, on 17 hits … stuck out nine batters … finished with one decision, a loss in two-third of an inning of work against Holy Cross (4.2) … named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
FRESHMAN (2012)
Made 23 appearances on the hill for the Hawks, mostly as a reliever but did start one game … pitched 50 total innings and sported a 7.38 earned run average … allowed 77 total hits and 53 runs, 41 of which were earned … struck out 33 batters, fourth most on the team … led the Hawks with three saves, all coming towards the end of the season … first collegiate save came against in-state rival Central Connecticut (5.2) … posted his second save in his next appearance three days later against UMBC (5.5) and his third also came in conference play against Albany (5.18) … his only start came on April 18 against Dartmouth … finished with a pair of victories, both scored as a reliever … his first collegiate win came in the first game of a doubleheader against Yale (3.23) as he pitched 3.2 innings of relief … second victory came in just one inning of work against Maine (5.13) … set a career-high with four strikeouts in his second appearance on the season at Virginia Military Institute (3.3) … tied that career mark in another non-conference game against Iona (4.11) … finished three straight games (8.0 innings) without allowing a run while giving up seven hits in that same span against Holy Cross, Albany and Iona … also did not allow a run in his final two appearances of the season, a total of 2.2 innings … named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 of higher.
BEFORE HARTFORD
A left-handed pitcher from Berlin High School who was 8-1 with a 1.60 ERA in 75 innings pitched as a senior … during his scholastic career, earned All-State, The Hartford Courant “Fab 15,” All-New Haven Register and All-Herald honors … was a team captain … tossed a no-hitter for his American Legion that sent his team into the state playoffs … a member of the Honor Society and was twice named All-Academic … Sister, Erica, played golf at Hofstra … son of Elvita and Jim Barnes … accounting major in the Barney School of Business.
