Junior (2014)
Played and started in 53 games as the everyday first baseman … finished the season fourth on the team with a .288 batting average on 53 hits in 184 at bats … drilled 13 extra base hits, including 10 doubles and three triples with the latter a career high … drove in 27 runs, fourth most on the team, while scoring 27 runs … was hit by a pitch a team-high 21 times, which led the America East and was 18th most in the NCAA … tied for the team lead, and fourth in the America East, with a .991 fielding percentage with a team and league-high 504 putouts and 41 assists with five errors … drove in a career high three runs on 2-of-5 at the plate, both doubles, against George Mason (3.2) … legged out a pair of triples, a career best, on the road against La Salle (3.16) … played summer ball for the Keene Swamp Bats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League … one of three Hawks named to the America East All-Academic Team, his second-straight season with the distinction … named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season for achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
SOPHMORE (2013)
One of two Hawks to start and play all 53 games … finished third overall with a .274 batting average … collected a team-best 54 hits in 197 at bats … drove in 20 runs, fourth most on the team, and scored a team-high 31 runs … finished with 14 extra base hits, 12 doubles, second on the team, a triple and a home run … worked nine walks and sacrificed himself on seven occasions … finished the season with six stolen bases in eight attempts … set a career-high with five hits, the most by any Hawk, in five at bats at Albany (4.20) … finished that game scoring a career-best four runs, while hitting a pair of doubles and his first collegiate home run … managed a season-best 13-game hit streak which totaled 22 hits in 56 at bats (.393 average) … finished 13 games with two or more hits … drove in a season-best two runs in five different games … led the team with 418 put outs, including a career-high 22 against UMBC (4.6) … the 418 put outs was the third most in the America East … added 47 assists … was named an All-Star with the Youse’s Orioles in the Cal Ripken Summer Baseball League … one of three Hawks named to the America East All-Academic Team … named to the America East Academic Honor Roll for the second straight season.
FRESHMAN (2012)
Played in 43 games making 29 starts primarily as a first baseman … finished his rookie season with a .212 batting average with 22 hits in 104 at bats … drove in nine runs and scored 18 … four of his 22 hits went for extra bases with three doubles and one triple … finished three games with multiple hits including a career-best three in a road game at VMI (3.3) … finished that game 3-of-4 at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base … finished one game with multiple RBI, two on the road at Yale (3.23) … second overall with 200 putouts, finishing the year with a .973 fielding average with six errors … named to the America East Academic Honor Roll.
BEFORE HARTFORD
Played in the infield for four years for Peters Township High School … batted .507 with 7 home runs, 42 runs batted in, and 32 runs scored as a senior … named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and WPIAL All-Star teams as a senior … during his career, was also a three-time Pittsburgh Post-Gazette All-Section team member (2011, 2010, 2009) and two-time First-Team All-District honoree … twice served as a team captain … earned a spot on the school’s Honor Roll and was honored for his community service work … son of Barb and Randy Sheetz … enjoys hunting, fishing and boating … management major in the Barney School Business.
