Durham, NH – The University of Hartford volleyball team fell short in its first conference road match of the season, dropping a three-set match (25-16, 25-14, 25-16) to the New Hampshire Wildcats on Saturday afternoon. Hartford was led by its freshman hitter Kami Nethersole who finished with 10 kills, the only Hawk with double digit kills.
Nethersole led the Hawks hitters with a .400 hitting percentage with just two errors in 20 total hits. Finishing second for Hartford was senior Erin Macro who finished with eight kills and three errors in 19 total swings for a .263 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Lindsay Ford finished with 18 saves as she captained the Hawks offensive threat. Defensively, senior Hallie Fullagar led the team with eight digs, while Ford was second with six digs. Two other players finished with four digs each, sophomore Michelle Cordell and senior Sarah Boss. As a team, Hartford finished with two total blocks, both solo blocks, one from Cordell and one from Maddison Molyneux.
New Hampshire was led by two players who finished with double digit kills. Kirsten Bates led all players with 14 kills, while Lindsay Fogarty added 10 for the Wildcats. Fogarty finished the match without a hitting error in 19 total attempts for a .526 hitting percentage.
The Hartford volleyball team returns to the Reich Family Pavilion for their next match. The Hawks welcome the Providence College Friars for the first ever Dig Pink game on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
