Tennis Drops Matches at Sacred Heart, 7-0

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -
The Hartford men's and women's tennis teams fell to Sacred Heart on Saturday, 7-0. it was the sixth straight loss to open the spring season for the men, and seventh consecutive for the women.

"Coming off these matches, the next two weeks will prove to be a very intense stretch for us," head coach Michael Raymond said. "We have some matches coming up that we expect to be extremely competitive in. Hopefully some of the good tennis we've played in spots this past week will help us."

Playing at Number Two singles, Josh Isaacson had one of the more competitive matches of the day, falling to Chris Ujkic, 6-2, 6-3. He was the only men's player to claim multiple games in both of his sets. Marco Neves also put up a strong showing in the second set of his match, falling 6-0, 6-4.

On the women's side, the Hawks had trouble with the host Pioneers, not earning more than two game victories in any set. Nicole Haynal had the best showing for Hartford, falling to Darcy Demers at Number Two singles, 6-2, 6-1.

The men's and women's teams will be back in action on April 2, when they host Wagner. It will be the last home match before the bulk of America East conference play starts up. Start time is set for 2 p.m. at the Hartford Tennis Courts.
