WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior
Katina Zampas and freshman
Hannah Goldman each earned their first singles wins of the Fall, but the Hawks' women's tennis dropped a 5-2 result on the road at Holy Cross Thursday afternoon.
Playing No. 2 singles, Zampas blanked her Crusader opponent in the first set, 6-0, on her way to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Goldman took her match at No. 4 singles by the same score, 6-0, 6-2.
Sophomore
Christie Greenberg held her own in the No. 5 singles match before dropping a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
The Hawks put up a fight in doubles competition as well. The top team of Zampas and Goldman pushed Holy Cross' Jaclyn Carroll and Maya Welch before falling, 8-6. At No. 2 doubles, the duo of
Ashley Harel and
Colleen Beck forced a tiebreak before conceding an 8-7 (7-2) result.
Next up for Hartford is another road trip, this time to Providence, R.I., to take on the Friars of Providence College.
