Box Score VESTAL, N.Y. – The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Binghamton Bearcats on Friday night, the first of two matches for the Hawks in their final road series of the season. Leading Hartford was senior Dionna Kirton and junior Maya Louis who each finished with eight kills. The Hawks travel to Albany, N.Y for their final regular season road contest on Sunday, November 10. The Hawks and Great Danes are scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at University Gym.

As a team, Hartford finished the match hitting .067 with 31 total kills and 24 errors in 105 attacks. Tamburri, the Hawks primary setter, finished with 24 assists and now stands 293 shy of taking over the top spot for career assists since the start of rally scoring.

Defensively, Hartford was led by freshman libero Paola Llerandi who finished with 13 digs, while Tamburri completed her 15th double double of the season with 10 digs.

Binghamton opened the match scoring the first two points and was able to hold that lead until Hartford tied the score at four on back-to-back kills from Corinne Horanzy and Maya Louis. Six more deadlocks would follow before the Bearcats took a 13-11 lead, one they wouldn't relinquish the remainder of the set. The Bearcats largest lead of the opening set came at 21-15 thanks to a kill from Grace Vickers.

After tie scores at each of the first five points, the Hawks opened up an 8-5 lead in the second set thanks to a kill from Louis, a Binghamton error, and a service ace from Dionna Kirton. Hartford built its lead to as much as 10-6, thanks to a bad set against Binghamton.

After Hartford took a 13-10 advantage, the Bearcats battled to tie the score on six consecutive points before the Hawks regained a 20-18 advantage on a Binghamton error and a kill from Kirton. That Hawks lead led to a Bearcat timeout, with the home team coming out of the break and scoring four straight points to take a 22-20 advantage, never looking back.

After ties in the first two points of the third set, the Bearcats responded by taking their first lead of the set by scoring four-of-five points, resulting in a 6-3 lead. Binghamton then scored six-of-seven points to take the first double digit lead for either squad of the match. A kill from Binghamton's Kristin Hovie provided a 17-7 cushion for the home team.
