ALBANY, N.Y.—The University of Hartford women's tennis team headed to the Empire State Sunday to take on America East foe Albany. The Hawks dropped a 4-2 result to the host Great Danes despite a solid effort in singles play.
Hartford earned points at the Nos. 4 and 6 singles posts. At No. 4, freshman
Madeline Makings earned a point when her opponent retired from the match. Makings won three games in the first set before the match ended. The Hawks also won by default at the No. 6 position.
Despite not earning a point in the other four singles matches, the Hawks fared well against the Great Danes, with each player winning at least three games in their respective matches. In the top spot, senior
Ashley Harel won three games in the first set before falling, 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore
Hannah Goldman turned in the same score at No. 5. At the No. 3 post, senior
Katina Zampas also picked up three games, but surrendered a 6-2, 6-1 result.
Freshman
Emily Sneddon also played well out of the No. 2 slot. Sneddon took three games in the first set and a pair in the second before her match went unfinished.
