BOX SCORE

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—The University of Hartford women's tennis team took one singles match in a 6-1 loss to in-state rival Sacred Heart Thursday afternoon. Freshman Emily Sneddon paced the Hawk women on the day, picking up a victory at No. 2 singles.

Sneddon cruised in her first set against Sacred Heart's Gabriela Kaldan, 6-1, before taking the second set by a 7-5 count to earn the lone point for the Hawks.

Senior Katina Zampas won her first set at No. 3 singles, taking a 6-2 result over Nicole Rydzewski to open her match. However, Rydzewski came back to take the second set, 6-2, before taking the third-set tiebreak, 10-4.

The Hawks are back in action with three matches this weekend. The women head to Hamden, Conn., Friday to take on Quinnipiac before returning to West Hartford for a Saturday matchup against St. Francis (Pa.). Hartford wraps up the weekend with a home contest against AIC. Prior to Sunday's match, Zampas and fellow senior Ashley Harel will be honored along with Alex Holdstein and Jordan Badenko from the men's team as a part of the senior day festivities.
