WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -The University of Hartford women's tennis team dropped a 1-6 matchup to in-state rival Sacred Heart University. Freshman Skyler Schaar led the Hawks with the lone singles match win.
In the number three singles match, Schaar battled Sacred Heart junior Lindsey Post forcing a three set match. The rookie won the first set by a score of 6-4 before Post tied the score with a second set 2-6 victory. In the third set, Schaar kept the lead throughout defeating Post by a 6-2 score for the win.
Freshman Meredith Heitland competed against junior Paige Olson in the fourth singles spot. Heitland battled through the first set forcing a 7-3 tie-breaker before falling 7-6. Olson took advantage of her tie-break set win into the second set defeating Heitland by a 6-1 margin.
The University of Hartford women's tennis team will continue match play hosting Stony Brook at noon on Friday February 28.
