THE LEAD:
The University of Hartford Men's Soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Northeastern on Tuesday night on Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. The only goal of the night came in the 65
th minute, when Huskies defender Martin Nygaard headed in a free kick off the foot of Gerardo Milano.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nygaard's goal stood as the game-winner. It was his first goal of the season and the Huskies' second goal in their past five games.
- Hartford's attack took time to get rolling, but produced a few quality chances late in the second half. Northeastern goalkeeper Jonathan Thuresson finished with four saves, all coming in the second half, to earn the shutout victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hartford led in shots (13-7) but trailed in corner kicks (8-2).
- For the second straight game, Hartford was whistled for fewer fouls (seven) than the opposition (9). The Huskies also drew more yellow cards (2-1).
- Erik Ribeiro, Michael Dunn, Jacob Slomski and keeper Scott McKirgan all cracked the Starting XI for the first time this season for the Hawks.
- Junior Andre Morrison led Hartford with four shots, while Khesanio Hall took four for Northeastern.
NEWS & NOTES:
- Hartford's defense hadn't allowed a goal in 265 minutes before Nygaard broke through in the second half.
- McKirgan made his first appearance of the year in net for the Hawks, tallying one save.
- Morrison and freshman midfielder Gael Kisombe have started all 11 games for Hartford this season.
- Ribeiro played a season-high 60 minutes
- The Hawks are now 16-6-2 all-time against Northeastern.

Hartford will face the first of three consecutive America East foes when it travels to Binghamton on Saturday. The Hawks lead the all-time series 8-7-3 against the Bearcats (5-2-4, 0-0-1 America East). The two teams played to a scoreless draw in 2015.
