WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – On Friday, Hartford men's soccer head coach Mike Kulas announced the hiring of Devon Jessop and Erik Ribeiro as assistant coaches to the men's soccer program. 

Jessop will join the Hawks as an assistant coach / recruiting coordinator while Ribeiro comes in as a assistant coach / director of player performance. 

Jessop joins the Hawks as a former student-athlete for the men's soccer program where he played in 33 games across three seasons with 27 starts. Devan ended his career with two goals and four assists with 1954 minutes played for the Hawks. Jessop started his collegiate career at Southern Connecticut State University where he played his freshman season. 

Jessop is also currently a youth coach at Oakwood Soccer Club where he was previously from 2022-2025. Jessop spent last year with the Rhode Surf Soccer Club, before returning to Oakwood this summer. 

Jessop graduated from the University of Hartford in 2025 with a bachelor's in sport management.

Ribeiro joins the Hawks as a former student-athlete for the men's soccer program where he played 25 games across three seasons with six starts. Erik would play 848 minutes for Hartford with a single goal. Ribeiro would play semi-professionally from 2019-2022. 

Ribeiro has worked with four youth clubs / academies since 2022 including Flamengo FC Futsal Academy, West Hartford Premier, FSA FC and Oakwood Academy. 

The Hawks head into 2026 looking to win double-digit games for a third-consecutive season for the first time since 1990-1992. Hartford will start the season taking on a pair of inner-city opponents on the road in the first week of September. UHart starts the season on September 4th against the reigning GNAC Champions University of Saint Joseph before traveling across the city of Hartford to take on Trinity College on September 6th.
