THE LEAD:The University of Hartford earned an afternoon split on Saturday at the Longwood Spring Fling, earning a dramatic, 5-4 win over Monmouth in game one of the day before falling 7-4 to host Longwood in the second contest.

Peyton Fisher delivered a two-run single in the top of the seventh to lift the Hawks to victory in game one of the day, while
Danielle DeMarco led the Hawks with four hits, including a home run, on the day.
GAME 1: HARTFORD 5, MONMOUTH 4Fisher delivered a two-run single with two outs in the top of the seventh to lift the Hartford softball team to a come-from-behind, 5-4 victory. Eight of the nine Hawks in the lineup delivered hits in the victory, while
Marisa Ferguson scored two runs.

Lexi Wilkerson picked up the win out of the bullpen, allowing one run in 1 1/3 innings of work, while
Melissa Pereira delivered a save with a scoreless frame.
Kelsey Bird pitched a solid 4 2/3 innings in delivering a no-decision.

Chloe Howerth had three hits and Emma Hill had two in a losing effort. Amanda Riley had a no-decision with five innings of work for MU, while Sydney Underhill was carded with the loss in two innings of work.
HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:• The Hawks got on the board in the top of the first, with
Kristen DeCiantis scoring
Jenice Aloyo, who had doubled, on a fielder's choice.
• In the top of the fifth, Hartford added to its lead when Ferguson scored on a wild pitch after a double to center field.
• Monmouth came back with three runs on three hits and an error in the bottom of the fifth.
• MU added another run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run by Rachel Shotzbarger.
•
Sawyer Fried doubled to start the seventh, then came home on a DeMarco single through the right side.
• A walk and hit batter loaded the bases, then Fisher singled up the middle to give the Hawks a 5-4 lead.
GAME 2: LONGWOOD 7, HARTFORD 4DeMarco had a monster game in the second contest of the day, going 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Aloyo added two hits in a losing effort.

Glenn Walters had a two-hit day for the Lancers, driving in two and scoring twice. Karleigh Donovan and Taylor Hedrick added a pair of hits apiece.

Bird picked up the loss for the Hawks, while
Bianca Ross finished off the contest with a pair of shutout innings. Jenna Carnes collected the victory for the Great Danes, while Sydney Mundell and Elizabeth McCarthy posted shutout frames in relief.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:• The Hawks struck in the top of the first, with Fried and DeMarco singles followed by an RBI double from Ferguson.
• Hartford made it 2-0 when DeMarco came in on a wild pitch.
• Longwood got a run back in the bottom of the first on a sac fly.
• The Lancers took a 3-2 lead on a two-run homerun off the bat of Walters.
• DeMarco tied the score on a homer down the left-field line.
• Longwood regained the lead on an RBI single in the bottom of the third.
• Hartford tied the game on a DeMarco RBI single after an Aloyo double.
• The Lancers pulled back ahead with an RBI double from Emily Murphy and two more on an error in the bottom of the fifth.
