THE LEAD:

Danielle DeMarco hit her fourth homer of the year in game two for the Hawks.
GAME 1: MAINE 8, HARTFORD 3
Each team had 11 hits, but three of those were home runs for the Black Bears, as Maine took game one. Harvey, Derrick and Felicia Lennon each hit home runs in the contest, as all nine Maine starters hit safely.
Â
Kylie Dazalla went 3-for-4 for the Hawks, scoring a pair of runs, while DeMarco and
Sawyer Fried each had two as well. Erin Bogdanovich picked up the victory for Maine with a complete game, while
Bianca Ross was carded with the loss.
HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• Hartford struck quickly, with Dazalla singling, moving to second on a groundout, and scoring on a
Peyton Fisher RBI single to left center to make it 1-0.
•
Lexi Wilkerson followed, and ripped a ball just short of a home run in left, to drive in Fisher for a 2-0 lead.
• Maine came right back with three in the top of the second, though, with a solo home run and a two-run homer in the frame.
• Both pitchers settled in at that point, with the score remaining 3-2 until the top of the fifth.
• Maine plated three more in the fifth, the final two on a triple by Janelle Bouchard that saw her come in to score on an error, making it a 6-2 lead.
• The Black Bears made it 8-2 on a two-run homer by Harvey in the top of the seventh.
• Dazalla plated the final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh, leading off with a double and eventually coming in on a DeMarco RBI single.
GAME 2: MAINE 11, HARTFORD 2 (6)
Maine scored eight runs in the top of the fourth en route to an 11-2 victory in game two. Harvey went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, while three other Black Bears contributed two hits. DeMarco's two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth provided all of the Hawks' offense.
Â
Molly Flowers allowed just two hits in six innings to pick up the win, while Wilkerson was credited with the loss for Hartford.
Â
HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• Maine got out in front with a Harvey RBI double in the top of the first to make it 1-0.
• After that, Wilkerson and Flowers both shut the door, keeping the score that way through three frames.
• Maine exploded for eight runs on six hits and three walks in the top of the fourth, including Harvey's second longball of the day, to push the lead to 9-0.
• After
Jenice Aloyo walked to lead off the inning, DeMarco drilled a 3-2 pitch to deep left for her fourth homer of the season.
• Maine closed out the victory with two runs in the top of the sixth, both coming on a Lennon two-run double just inside the left-field line that made it 11-2.
