THE BASICS:

RESULT: Northeastern 4, Hartford 3
LOCATION: Brookline, Mass. (Friedman Diamond)
RECORDS: Hartford (28-13), Northeastern (23-19)

THE LEAD:

Ben Bengtson went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, but Northeastern used an efficient offensive day to post a 4-3 victory over the Hartford baseball team on Tuesday. The Hawks outhit the Huskies 9-7 in the contest, but hit into a pair of crucial double plays and had a runner thrown out at the plate.

Andrew Misiaszek picked up the win for NU, allowing four hits and a walk in his five innings of work, striking out five in the process. Mike Fitzgerald pitched the ninth, allowing one run, to pick up his eighth save of the season for the Huskies. Justin Cashman was credited with the loss for the Hawks after surrendering three runs in 4 1/3 frames.

In addition to Bengtson's three hits, six different Hawks had one hit apiece, including David MacKinnon, who extended his hitting streak to 17 games in a losing effort. Joe Roberti and Billy Walker each drove in a run for Hartford. Zach Perry and Cam Walsh each had two hits in the victory for the Huskies.

HOW THEY SCORED:
• Northeastern got on the board first on Cashman, putting together three hits to plate a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.
• Misiaszek kept the Hawks off the board through the first four frames, including a key double play off the bat of T.J. Ward to end the second.
• Hartford got on the board in the top of the fifth, as Bengtson reached on an infield single and Chris Sullivan walked to put two on and two out. Roberti followed by ripping a double down the right-field line to plate Bengtson, but Sullivan was thrown out at home to end the frame.
• The Huskies responded, getting a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth on a trio of hits, two of which were RBI singles.
• In the top of the seventh, the Hawks loaded the bases with nobody out, but the Huskies got a double play (which scored one run to make it 4-2) and a strikeout to limit the damage.
• Hartford threatened off Fitzgerald in the ninth, with Walker doubling home Dalton Ruch with two down, but a groundout ended the game with the tying run in scoring position.
