THE LEAD:
Marisa Ferguson hit a three-run homer in game two, but Kasey McCravey went 4-for-6 on the day to lead Army to a doubleheader sweep of the Hartford softball team on Tuesday. It marked the final two home games of the year for the Hawks.
GAME 1: ARMY 7, HARTFORD 0
Caroline Smith pitched a no-hitter and Taylor Gaff went 4-for-4 as Army took game one. The Black Knights delivered 16 hits in the contest, the majority of which came over the final two innings. Smith retired the first 19 batters she faced before allowing a seventh-inning error.

Bianca Ross was carded with the loss for the Hawks.
HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• The Black Knights got on board in the top of the first, using a double, an error and a passed ball to take a 1-0 advantage.
• Ross settled into the circle at that juncture, keeping the Black Knights at bay for the next four innings.
• Smith was dominant on the other side, at one point retiring eight straight Hawks on groundouts, in retiring the Hawks in order over the first five frames.
• Army broke through in the top of the sixth, plating three runs on five hits to push the lead to 4-0.
• Smith registered a pair of groundouts and a flyout to put the Hawks away in the sixth.
• In the top of the seventh, Army added three more runs to make it a 7-0 game.
• The Hawks got their first base runner in the bottom of the seventh when
Jenice Aloyo reached on an error, but a pair of stellar defensive plays by the Black Knights kept the no-hitter in tact for Smith.
GAME 2: ARMY 5, HARTFORD 3
Ferguson hit a game-tying three-run home run, but Army got a go-ahead solo shot in the top of the fifth from McCravey and went on to a 5-3 victory over the Hawks.
Sawyer Fried and
Elizabeth Newkirk each scored runs for the Hawks as well.

Hartford got strong performances in the circle from both
Melissa Pereira and
Kelsey Bird in the loss. Kristen West tossed five innings, allowing four hits in the victory, and Renee Poirier pitched two shutout frames to collect the save.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• Army cracked the scoreboard early in game two, plating three runs on three hits to take an early 3-0 lead.
• Both starters locked down at that point, putting zeroes on the board to keep the score that way until the bottom of the fourth.
Kelsey Bird came on for the top of the fourth for the Hawks and added a zero of her own.
• The Hawks countered with a three spot in the bottom of the fourth.
Sawyer Fried singled with one out and
Elizabeth Newkirk followed with a walk, setting up Ferguson, who drilled the first pitch she saw into the netting in left field for her first homer of the season and the third of her career.
• Army came right back, with McCravey delivering her sixth longball of the season to left center to make it 4-3.
• The Black Knights added an unearned run in the top of the seventh to result in the final score.

The Hawks will return to the road for a three-game series at Binghamton to close out the regular season. Hartford and BU will duel on Friday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. The teams will then close out their series on Saturday at noon in Vestal, N.Y.
